Asset Valuation

Berkshire values loans and loan-backed assets in support of purchase and sale transactions, hedging, accounting marks, and other needs. We value performing, non-performing, re-performing, and modified loans for bulk or flow transactions. Berkshire value the following categories of assets:

  • Residential Mortgage Loans
  • Commercial Mortgage Loans
  • Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOC’s)
  • Commercial and Consumer Installment Loans

  • Mortgage Servicing Rights
  • Mortgage Backed Securities
  • Collateralized Mortgage Obligations
  • Collateralized Debt Obligations

Most of Berkshire’s valuation work involves going concern entities and non-distressed company situations. However, a portion of Berkshire’s practice involves valuation of assets in corporate bankruptcy and other highly distressed situations. We are experienced in the ins and outs of bankruptcy bidding procedures, and can assist both buyers and sellers in the process. Some of the valuation-related services Berkshire provides in corporate bankruptcy situations include:

  • Distressed asset valuations
  • Distressed asset loan reviews (compliance, servicing analysis, legal document review)
  • Operational, financial and asset due diligence (payment history review, servicing comments/borrower contact history, escrow analysis, legal action review, default status assessment, disposition strategy determination)
  • Asset bid and purchase support
  • Stalking horse bid preparation
  • Sourcing of funds for asset bids and purchases
